Reflections on Narrow Gauge NOW

A very enjoyable day was had at Narrow Gauge NOW with Odsock Corner and the two dioramas. For those who could not attend, and the odd few who could not find the allocated corner (!), this is the display just before opening. With hindsight the arrangement of lamps, sign and socks might not have worked as quite as well as I had hoped , but everything did it's job.

I had a few small items for sale at the left hand side of the stand, which financed the purchase of a couple of packs of Evergreen styrene from the 7mm NGA sales stand. Back-issues of 'Narrow Lines' were give away for free and all of them went, hopefully spreading the 7mm NG word. The micro-diorama with the derelict diesel was also for sale but remained unsold at the end of the day (see below).

In the days before the show I had carried out a couple of jobs on 'The Headshunt', the main one being gluing the Junkbox Jury abandoned wagon frame in it's intended location. Some extra grass was added around it to fill a few spaces and add some length in the places where the mower cannot reach. A Green Stuff World tuft was also used to add in some variety in the centre of the frame.

Overall 'Odsock Corner' behaved well although by the end of the day I think it had warmed up to the point where the rails may have been affected slightly by the heat, making running erratic in places. That aside it was a great day and it was good to catch up with many old faces and to meet a lot of people who had seen things progress here on the blog.

I took no other photos myself, but I can recommend the selection from my friend Stephen: https://009adventure.blog/2026/11/01/narrow-gauge-now-2026/
